Taking Part Days?

While Section 57(1)(c) requires an Alternative holiday to be a whole working day off for the employee, there is nothing specifically in the act preventing an employee from splitting an Alternative Day. However, we would not recommend doing this as it appears contrary to the intention of the Act to give the employee the Public holiday missed - there are no half-day public holidays, except ANZAC perhaps. The problem is better resolved by using normal leave instead saving the Alternate day for a time when a whole day is desired.
